Description
The drug is a combination drug used to treat type 2 diabetes.
Composition
– Alogliptin – 12.5 mg
– Metformin – 1000 mg
Pharmacological properties
• Combined hypoglycemic effect:
o Metformin acts primarily on insulin resistance.
o Alogliptin – on insulin stimulation and glucagon suppression in response to food intake.
• Does not cause hypoglycemia when used in monotherapy (except in cases of combined use with other drugs that lower glucose).
Method of administration
• Usually taken twice a day with meals.
• The dosage is selected individually by a doctor based on the level of glycemia and tolerance.
The use of the drug is prohibited without consulting a specialist doctor in the following cases:
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
Patients with diabetic ketoacidosis.
