Composition:
Active ingredient:
• Desmopressin Acetate — 0.2 mg in each tablet.
Pharmacological properties:
Desmopressin is a synthetic analogue of the natural antidiuretic hormone (vasopressin). It reduces urine production by the kidneys by increasing water reabsorption in the renal tubules.
• Starts to act within 30 minutes.
• Maximum effect occurs after 1–2 hours.
• Duration of action — up to 8 hours.
Indications for use:
• Nocturnal enuresis (in children aged 6 years and older, as well as in adults).
• Central diabetes insipidus.
• Diagnostic testing of the kidneys’ ability to concentrate urine (for example, if pituitary disorders are suspected).
Method of administration and dosage:
• Usually: 0.2 mg once a day, at night.
• Tablets are taken orally with a small amount of water.
• Dosage is selected individually, depending on the patient’s response.
• It is important to monitor plasma sodium levels, especially with long-term use.
