The drug lowers blood glucose through complementary mechanisms: increasing urinary glucose excretion and reducing hepatic glucose production.

– Not recommended for patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Dosage and Method of Administration:
– Take one tablet once daily in the morning with food. Swallow whole without crushing or chewing.
– The dosage should be individualized based on effectiveness and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum dose of 10 mg dapagliflozin and 2000 mg metformin daily.
– Assess renal function prior to initiation and periodically thereafter.
