Each tablet contains:
oxybutynin hydrochloride 10 mg.
Auxiliary components:
Lactose monohydrate, povidone, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, talc.
Properties:
An M-anticholinergic from the group of tertiary amines. Along with moderate M-anticholinergic activity, it has the ability to directly affect the smooth muscles of internal organs (myotropic antispasmodic effect). Eliminates spasms and reduces the tone of smooth muscles of internal organs: gastrointestinal tract, biliary tract, uterus, urinary tract, including the bladder. In neurogenic bladder, oxybutynin relaxes the detrusor of the bladder, reduces spontaneous contractions of the detrusor, increases the capacity of the bladder, and reduces the frequency of urge to urinate.
Indications:
Urinary incontinence due to instability of bladder function of a neurogenic nature (detrusor hyperreflexia, for example, in multiple sclerosis or spina bifida) or idiopathic nature; nocturnal enuresis in children over 5 years of age (as monotherapy or in combination with other drugs).
Method of administration and dosage:
Taken orally. Adults – 5 mg 1 time/day, after 1 week of treatment the dose can be increased to 10 mg per day. The maximum daily dose is 20 mg. In elderly patients, at the beginning of treatment, 2.5-3 mg 2 times/day are used, then, if necessary, the dose is gradually increased to 5 mg 2 times/day.
For children over 5 years old – the initial dose is 2.5-3 mg 2 times a day, if necessary, gradually increase the dose to 5 mg 2-3 times a day. In case of nocturnal enuresis, the last dose should be taken immediately before bedtime.
Contraindications:
Violation of urine outflow from the bladder, when precipitation of retained urine is possible; intestinal obstruction; intestinal atony; severe ulcerative colitis; dilation of the colon; myasthenia; glaucoma; lactation (breastfeeding); children under 5 years of age; hypersensitivity to oxybutynin.
Precautions:
Use with caution in elderly patients, with neurocirculatory dystonia, liver or kidney dysfunction, thyrotoxicosis, arrhythmia, coronary heart disease, chronic heart failure, arterial hypertension, initial manifestations of benign prostatic hyperplasia, ulcerative colitis, in patients with ileostomy, colostomy, and esophageal hernia accompanied by reflux esophagitis.
Side effects:
From the digestive system: dry mouth, nausea, constipation, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea are possible.
From the central nervous system: headache, drowsiness, dizziness, decreased visual acuity are possible.
Dermatological reactions: dry skin may occur.
Others: hot flashes (more common in children), difficulty urinating, urinary retention, arrhythmia are possible.
Storage method:
At a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees.
