Properties:

N-acetylcysteine ​​is a mucolytic agent, a derivative of the amino acid cysteine. It has a mucolytic effect, increases the volume of sputum, facilitates its discharge due to a direct effect on the rheological properties of sputum. The duration of action depends on the dose and ranges from 4 to 6 hours.

Chlorphenamine is an antihistamine. Reduces the severity of allergic reactions mediated by the action of histamine, reduces capillary permeability, constricts blood vessels, eliminates swelling and hyperemia of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, paranasal sinuses and bronchi. Has a sedative effect. The duration of the effect is 4-6 hours.

Indications:

Treatment of cough associated with acute and chronic respiratory diseases: bronchitis, laryngotracheitis, nasopharyngitis.

Cough in pediatric practice, during colds and flu.

Method of administration and dosage:

Children 3-6 years old: 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day.

Children 6-12 years old: 5-10 ml of syrup 3 times a day, depending on the individual characteristics of the child and the course of the disease.

Children over 12 years of age and adults: 10 ml of syrup 3 times a day.

A slight sulfurous odor that accompanies opening the bottle is normal and does not affect the properties of the drug.

If excessive mucus production accompanied by cough does not go away after a week of treatment, you should consult a doctor.

Contraindications:

Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Gastric ulcer in the active phase.

Closed-angle glaucoma.

Acute urinary retention.

Exacerbation of bronchial asthma.

Concomitant treatment with MAO inhibitors and if less than 2 weeks have passed since the end of treatment.

Pheochromocytoma.

Pregnancy and lactation.

Children under 3 years of age.

With long-term use, it is necessary to monitor liver function;

Concomitant use with antitussives (codeine, dextromethorphan) may provoke bronchospasm and respiratory tract infections due to suppression of the cough reflex against the background of increased sputum secretion.

Chlorphenamine may cause drowsiness and decreased concentration and attention.

All preparations containing acetylcysteine ​​may, when exposed to air, release hydrogen sulfide, which has an unpleasant odor.

Side effects:

Sedative effects (drowsiness, decreased concentration and attention); dry mouth, constipation, accommodation disorders, glaucoma, insomnia, urination disorders, increased nervous excitability, suppression of bone marrow function, gastrointestinal disorders (heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), rarely – headache, fever, tinnitus, skin allergies (itching, redness, urticaria) and hypersensitivity reactions of the respiratory tract (bronchospasm).
