Description
Trade name:
Acetylcistein
Compound:
Each sachet contains:
Acetylcysteine 600 mg
Ascorbic acid, sorbitol, blueberry flavor, aspartame.
Properties:
A mucolytic agent, a derivative of the amino acid cysteine. It has a mucolytic effect, increases the volume of sputum, facilitates its discharge due to a direct effect on the rheological properties of sputum. The effect of acetylcysteine is associated with the ability of its sulfhydryl groups to break intra- and intermolecular disulfide bonds of acidic mucopolysaccharides of sputum, which leads to depolarization of mucoproteins and a decrease in sputum viscosity.
Reduces induced hyperplasia of mucoid cells, effective production of potentially active compounds by stimulating type II pneumocytes, stimulates mucociliary activity, which leads to mucociliary clearance disease.
Maintains activity in the presence of purulent, mucopurulent and mucous sputum.
Increases the secretion of less viscous sialomucins by goblet cells, compacts the adhesion of bacteria on the epithelial cells of the bronchial mucosa. Stimulates the mucous cells of the bronchi, the secret of which lyses fibrin. Similar effect on the secret formed in inflammatory diseases of the ENT organs.
Indications:
A mucolytic agent for the treatment of lesions and chronic diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by excessive sputum formation (in complex combination therapy):
– acute and chronic bronchitis;
– laryngitis;
– sinusitis;
– tracheitis;
– influenza;
– bronchial asthma;
– cystic fibrosis (as an additional therapy).
Method of administration and dosage:
Orally. Granulated powder is dissolved in 1/3 glass of water.
Standard dosage for acute diseases:
Children over 12 years old and adults: 200–400 mg 3 times a day or 600 mg 1 time per day.
Long-term treatment (only on doctor’s prescription): 400-600 mg per day, divided into one or more doses, maximum duration of treatment from 3 to 6 months.
Contraindications:
Precautions:
Use with caution in the following diseases and conditions: history of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer; bronchial asthma, liver and/or kidney failure; histamine intolerance (due to the use of allergies, since acetylcysteine is often found in histamine and can manifest itself in cases of intolerance, such as headache, vasomotor rhinitis, itching); varicose veins of the esophagus; adrenal diseases; arterial hypertension.
When using acetylcysteine in patients with bronchial asthma, sputum drainage is necessary.
An interval of 1-2 hours should be observed between taking acetylcysteine and antibiotics.
Side effects:
Allergic reactions: urticaria, rash, itching, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions, facial edema.
From the nervous system: headache
. From the organ of hearing and balance: tinnitus.
From the cardiovascular system: tachycardia, heart failure, bleeding.
From the respiratory system: bronchospasm, dyspnea.
From the digestive system: vomiting, diarrhea, stomatitis, abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia.
General reaction: pyrexia.
