Properties:
Thiomonium methyl sulfate is a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine, histamine and strengthens the calcium bond with membrane phospholipids and proteins. Thus, it inhibits the intracellular contractile protein of the visceral cell, which causes inhibition of visceral spasm and pain.
Indications:
Viscelarin is an antispasmodic drug that reduces spasms of the muscles of the intestine, biliary system, bladder and uterus. It is used in the symptomatic treatment of pain associated with functional disorders of the digestive tract and biliary systems. It is also indicated for the treatment of spasms and pain in urological and gynecological diseases.
Method of administration and dosage:
Adults: daily dose from 1 to 3 ampoules of 2 ml.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Contraindicated in urethroprostatic disorder that may lead to urinary retention.
Also when there is a risk of developing glaucoma.
Precautions:
Use with caution in cases of tachycardia associated with thyrotoxicosis, heart failure, fever syndrome, and increased intraocular pressure.
It should also be used with caution in patients with BPH, renal and hepatic insufficiency, chronic bronchitis with impaired bronchial secretion, intestinal obstruction, toxic megacolon, and intestinal agony in elderly patients.
During pregnancy and lactation, the drug is prescribed only after assessing the balance of benefits for the mother with possible risks to the fetus.
