Description

Trade name

Simethicone

Compound:

Each 1 ml of emulsion contains:

Simethicone 30% 66.68 mg, which is equivalent to 20 mg of simethicone.

Auxiliary ingredients:

Macrogol 6000, xanthan gum, sodium carmellose, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium saccharin, citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate dihydrate, potassium sorbate, anise flavor and purified water.

Properties:

The physiologically active ingredient is a chemically inert, non-systemic gastric defoamer that works by altering the elasticity of mucus bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract.

In this way, the gas bubbles are broken up or coalesced, and in this form the gas is more easily eliminated through belching or flatulence.

Simethicone is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.

Indications:

Treatment of colic in infants.

Method of administration and dosage:

For infants: 20 mg (1 ml) before each feeding.

If necessary, the dose can be increased to 40 mg (2 ml). Treatment with simethicone can provide progressive improvement in symptoms over several days.

Contraindications:

Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Precautions:

Parahydrobenzoates used in simethicone may cause delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions.

If symptoms persist, contact your doctor.
Levothyroxine may bind to simethicone. The absorption of levothyroxine may be impaired if simethicone is given to infants at the same time as hormone therapy.
