Description

Trade name:

Orly

Compound:

Each capsule contains:

Orlistat 120 mg

Auxiliary components:

Microcrystalline cellulose, sodium carboxymethyl starch, sodium lauryl sulfate, povidone K30, patent blue dye, titanium dioxide, gelatin.

Properties:

Lipase inhibitor. When taken orally, orlistat inhibits gastric and pancreatic lipases. As a result, the breakdown of dietary fats is disrupted and their absorption from the gastrointestinal tract is reduced. With systematic use, this effect leads to a decrease in body weight in obese patients. Orlistat is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and therefore has virtually no resorptive effect.

Indications:

Obesity (in combination with a moderate calorie diet).

Method of administration and dosage:

The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. It is necessary to strictly observe the compliance of the used dosage form of a specific drug with the indications for use and dosage regimen.

Orally. The recommended dose is 120 mg 3 times a day during meals.

The duration of the course of treatment is no more than 6 months.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to orlistat; chronic malabsorption syndrome, cholestasis; concomitant use with warfarin or other indirect oral anticoagulants, concomitant therapy with cyclosporine, concomitant use with sitagliptin; pregnancy, lactation (breastfeeding); childhood and adolescence under 18 years of age.

Precautions:

Diet and exercise are an important component of a weight loss program. It is recommended that diet and exercise be started before starting orlistat therapy. During orlistat therapy, the patient should be on a moderately hypocaloric diet with a balanced nutritional content, approximately 30% of which is fat. It is recommended that the diet be rich in fruits and vegetables. The diet and exercise program should be continued after orlistat is discontinued.

It is important to keep in mind that the frequency and severity of side effects increase with increasing fat content in food. With decreasing fat content in food, the likelihood of side effects decreases. It is recommended that the amount of fat consumed per day be distributed fairly evenly among all meals.

If diarrhea occurs during the use of orlistat, it is recommended to use an additional method of contraception to prevent possible ineffectiveness of oral contraceptives.

If symptoms such as weakness, fatigue, fever, jaundice and dark urine appear, you should consult a doctor to rule out liver dysfunction.

Side effects:

From the digestive system: very often – oily discharge from the rectum, gas discharge with some amount of discharge, imperative urge to defecate, steatorrhea, flatulence; often – abdominal pain, fecal incontinence, loose stools, increased frequency of defecation; frequency unknown – minor bleeding from the rectum, diverticulitis, pancreatitis.

From the liver and biliary tract: frequency unknown – increased activity of “liver” transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, hepatitis, cholelithiasis.

From the urinary system: frequency unknown – hyperoxaluria, oxalate nephropathy, which can sometimes lead to the development of renal failure.

From the skin and subcutaneous tissues: frequency unknown – bullous rash.

Others: frequency unknown – anxiety; with the simultaneous use of orlistat and indirect anticoagulants, a decrease in the concentration of prothrombin in the blood plasma and an increase in the international normalized ratio (INR) were noted.

Storage method:

Store at temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.
