Levonorgestrel 0.03 mg
Properties:
Gestagen, contraceptive, pharmacologically active isomer of norgestrel. Affects the gonadotropic function of the pituitary gland, which leads to a slight decrease in the peak of FSH and LH. Causes changes in the endometrium, which lead to disruption of the process of implantation of the egg. Contributes to an increase in the viscosity of cervical mucus, which prevents the movement of sperm.
Indications:
Hormonal contraception (including emergency).
Idiopathic menorrhagia.
Hormone replacement therapy (as part of combination therapy).
Method of administration and dosage:
The drug is taken orally, without chewing, with a small amount of liquid. 1 tablet daily, at the same time, starting from the 1st day of menstruation (using the tablet of the corresponding day of the week from the calendar package). After finishing taking the drug from the first package, the next day its intake is continued from a new package, starting with the tablet of the corresponding day of the week.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to levonorgestrel; pregnancy (including suspected); established or suspected malignant neoplasms of the genital organs and mammary gland; uterine bleeding of unknown etiology; history of inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs or ectopic pregnancy; severe liver failure, acute liver disease, liver tumors; thromboembolic disorders, thrombophlebitis, cerebrovascular diseases, coronary artery disease; age under 16 years (for emergency contraception dosage forms).
The drug is not prescribed during lactation.
Precautions:
Levonorgestrel should be used with caution in patients with liver and biliary tract diseases, jaundice (including history), Crohn’s disease, hereditary or acquired predisposition to thrombosis, congenital heart defects or heart valve diseases (due to the risk of developing septic endocarditis), diabetes mellitus.
Side effects:
Acyclic spotting/bleeding, lower abdominal pain, delayed menstruation, changes in menstruation, dysmenorrhea, chloasma, tension, enlargement, discharge from the mammary glands, vaginal candidiasis, changes in cervical secretion.
nausea, vomiting, pain in the epigastric region, diarrhea; rarely – flatulence, abdominal cramps.
Headache, dizziness.
Changes in corneal curvature, intolerance to contact lenses.
Allergic reactions.
Storage method:
Store at temperatures not exceeding 25 degrees.
