Description

Trade name:

Maalox Plus

Compound:

Each 5 ml of suspension contains:

magnesium hydroxide 200 mg,

aluminum hydroxide gel 225 mg, which is equivalent to aluminum hydroxide 175 mg.

simethicone 25 mg.

Auxiliary components:

Domiphene bromide, methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium croscarmellose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, sodium saccharin, liquid sorbitol, hydrogen peroxide 30%, lemon flavor, purified water.

Properties:

A combination product whose action is determined by its components; has an antacid, adsorbent, enveloping and carminative effect. Reduces gas formation in the intestine. The laxative effect of magnesium hydroxide balances the effect of aluminum hydroxide, which has the opposite effect on intestinal motility. Neutralizes free hydrochloric acid in the stomach, reduces the activity of gastric juice.

Simethicone has a destructive effect on gas bubbles in the intestines.

Indications:

Symptomatic therapy:

– dyspepsia (dyspepsia syndrome is defined as a feeling of pain or discomfort in the stomach, heaviness, fullness, early satiety, nausea).

– heartburn

– sour belching

– flatulence (bloating, increased gas formation in the intestines)

Method of administration and dosage:

Take internally.

Adults:

5-10 ml 20 minutes before or after meals (or as needed). No more than 6 doses per day. The course of treatment should not exceed 2-3 months.

Children under 5 years:

Maximum dose 5 ml.

Contraindications:

– patients with severe exhaustion and patients with renal failure.

– hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.

Precautions:

Aluminum hydroxide may cause constipation. Overdose of magnesium salts may also lead to decreased intestinal motility. High doses of this drug may provoke the development or increase the symptoms of intestinal obstruction in patients with a corresponding predisposition, such as the elderly or those with renal pathology.

Side effects:

Uncommon: diarrhea, constipation.

Frequency unknown (cannot be estimated from the available data):

– hypersensitivity reactions (itching, urticaria, angioedema, anaphylactic reactions), hypermagnesemia, hyperaluminemia, hypophosphatemia (with prolonged use of high doses or normal doses in patients on a low-phosphate diet), which can lead to increased bone resorption, hypercalciuria and osteomalacia.

Storage method:

Store at temperatures not exceeding 25 degrees.

Package:

The cardboard box contains a 250 ml glass bottle and paper instructions.
