Itraconazole 100 mg
Properties:
A synthetic antifungal agent with a broad spectrum of action. A derivative of triazole. Inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol in the cell membrane of fungi.
Active against dermatophytes (Trichophyton spp., Microsporum spp., Epidermophyton floccosum), yeast fungi Candida spp. (including Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis), mold fungi (Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus spp., Trichosporon spp., Geotrichum spp., Penicillium marneffei, Pseudallescheria boydii, Histoplasma spp., Coccidioides immitis, Paracoccidioides braziliensis. Sporothrix schenckii, Fonsecaea spp., Cladosporium spp., Blastomyces dermatidis), Stalassezia spp.
Indications:
Candidal vulvovaginitis.
Dermatoses, onychomycosis, versicolor lichen, fungal keratitis, blastomycosis, candidiasis of the oral mucosa.
Method of administration and dosage:
The capsule is swallowed whole, immediately after meals.
For vulvovaginal candidiasis – 200 mg 2 times a day for 1 day or 200 mg 1 time a day for 3 days;
Dermatomycosis – 100 mg daily for 15 days.
Tinea versicolor – 200 mg daily for 7 days.
Lesions of highly keratinized skin areas (dermatophytosis of the feet and hands) – 100 mg daily for 30 days.
For keratomycosis 200 mg once a day for 21 days.
Oral mucosal candidiasis-
100 mg daily for 15 days.
Onychomycosis – 200 mg once a day for 3 months or 200 mg twice a day for 1 week per course; if toenails are affected (regardless of fingernails being affected), 3 courses are administered with an interval of 3 weeks. If fingernails are affected only, 2 courses are administered with an interval of 3 weeks.
Some patients with weakened immune systems may require a 2-fold increase in the dose.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Pregnancy and lactation.
With caution: liver failure.
Precautions:
Laboratory analysis of liver function is necessary when taking the drug for more than 1 month.
The drug is not recommended for children.
Women of childbearing potential taking Itraconazole should use effective contraception throughout the course of treatment until the first menstrual period after its completion.
Side effects:
Nausea, constipation, headache, menstrual irregularities, skin itching, urticaria, liver dysfunction.
Storage method:
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.
