Properties:
Severe diarrhea is one of the leading causes of death in adolescents and young children in many countries due to very rapid dehydration. Dehydration can be quickly reversed by oral administration of saline solutions containing glucose and sodium and potassium salts, one of which is Hydro-Safe Solts.
A rehydration agent for oral administration.
Hydro-Safe Solts is used to correct electrolyte and fluid imbalances in diarrhea. The drug contains a small amount of sodium, thereby reducing the risk of hypernatremia.
Indications:
Oral rehydration and prevention of dehydration in acute diarrhea and gastroenteritis accompanied by mild to moderate dehydration.
Prevention of dehydration when performing work in high temperature conditions, pilgrimage trips, etc.
Method of administration and dosage:
The contents of one sachet are dissolved in 200 ml of freshly boiled cooled drinking water.
In case of mild dehydration:
The daily dose is 75 ml/kg of weight (1 dose can be taken over 4 hours).
For prevention:
Take 100-200 ml (1/2 glass) of solution after each loose stool.
– Insertion of a nasogastric tube:
The daily dose is 20 ml/kg of weight.
Contraindications:
-hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
-severe dehydration;
-coma;
– intestinal obstruction;
-severe vomiting;
-diarrhea caused by cholera;
-glucose-galactose malabsorption.
Precautions:
Do not dissolve in liquids other than drinking water, do not add sugar.
For children under 12 months, use only as directed by a doctor.
In patients with diabetes mellitus, renal failure and some other chronic diseases, diarrhea may cause significant fluid or glucose imbalance. Therefore, treatment of diarrhea in such patients may require laboratory monitoring and hospitalization. If the patient’s need for additional electrolytes is not confirmed by laboratory tests, the recommended doses of the drug should not be exceeded.
In case of vomiting, wait 10 minutes after the vomiting attack has ended and let the patient drink the solution slowly, in small sips.
Side effects:
In patients with normal renal function, the risk of developing hypernatremia or excess water intake is low.
If taken too quickly, vomiting may occur.
Storage method:
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.
After dilution, store the prepared solution in the refrigerator for no more than 24 hours.
