Hibiotic 625 mg 16 tablets
Composition:
Each film-coated tablet contains:
Amoxicillin trihydrate, equivalent to 500 mg amoxicillin.
Potassium clavulanate, equivalent to 125 mg clavulanic acid.
Excipients:
Magnesium stearate, Sodium starch glycolate type A, Colloidal anhydrous silica, Microcrystalline cellulose. Film coat: Titanium dioxide (E171), Hypromellose, Macrogol 4000/6000, Dimeticone.
Description:
HIBIOTIC is a broad-spectrum antibiotic containing amoxicillin (a penicillin) and clavulanic acid, which protects amoxicillin from β-lactamase enzymes.
It acts by killing bacteria responsible for various infections in adults and children.
Indications:
HIBIOTIC is used for the treatment of:
– Middle ear and sinus infections
– Respiratory tract infections
– Urinary tract infections
– Skin and soft tissue infections including dental infections
– Bone and joint infections.
Dosage and Method of Administration:
Follow your doctor’s instructions exactly.
Adults and children weighing ≥40 kg:
– 1 tablet (625 mg) three times daily
– Take with a meal
– Tablets may be broken along the score line, but both halves must be taken at the same time.
Children <40 kg:
– Preferably use oral suspension.
Kidney or liver impairment:
– Dose adjustment may be required.
General rules:
– Space doses evenly, at least 4 hours apart
– Do not take 2 doses within 1 hour
– Do not exceed 2 weeks of treatment unless advised.
Contraindications:
Do not take HIBIOTIC if:
– You are allergic to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, penicillins
– You have had a severe reaction to another antibiotic
– You previously developed liver dysfunction or jaundice while taking amoxicillin/clavulanate.
Precautions:
Tell your doctor before taking HIBIOTIC if you:
– Have glandular fever
– Have liver or kidney problems
– Have difficulty urinating
– Monitor for severe reactions: allergy, convulsions, colitis.
Side Effects:
Very common:
– Diarrhoea (adults).
Common:
– Thrush (candida)
– Nausea, vomiting
– Diarrhoea (children).
Uncommon:
– Rash, itching, hives
– Dizziness, headache
– Indigestion
– Raised liver enzymes.
Rare:
– Erythema multiforme
– Low platelets or white cells.
Frequency not known:
– Serious allergic reactions
– Colitis
– Aseptic meningitis
– Severe skin reactions (SJS, TEN, DRESS, SDRIFE)
– Hepatitis, jaundice
– Interstitial nephritis
– Bleeding time increased
– Hyperactivity, convulsions
– Black hairy tongue
– Haemolytic anaemia
– Crystals in urine → acute kidney injury.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:
Use only if clearly needed and after consulting a doctor.
Storage Conditions:
Store below 25°C.
Keep out of children’s reach.
