Description

Tradename:
Gaptin

Compound:
Each capsule contains:

Gabapentin 100 mg.

Properties:
Gabapentin is a new generation antiepileptic drug that increases gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels. Reduces the flow of calcium ions, which plays an important role in the occurrence of neuropathic pain. Other mechanisms of action of Gabapentin in neuropathic pain include a decrease in glutamate-dependent neuronal death.

Indications:
Treatment of neuropathic pain in diabetic polyneuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, neuropathic low back pain and trigeminal neuralgia. In the treatment of partial seizures with or without secondary generalization. As an adjuvant in patients who do not respond to or are intolerant to standard anti-epileptic drugs.

Directions for use and dosage:
On the first day, 100 mg 3 times a day, then 200 mg 3 times a day (second day), then 300 mg 3 times a day (third day). The dose is increased on the 4th day to 400 mg 3 times a day and gradually increased to 2400 mg per day by the third week. The safe daily dose of Gabapentin is 3600 mg, given that the total daily dose should be divided into 3 single doses in each case. The first dose should be administered at bedtime to avoid any side effect. In patients with renal impairment or those undergoing hemodialysis, dosage adjustments are necessary according to the physician’s instructions. Caution must be exercised when discontinuing the drug, with gradual withdrawal by reducing the dose over 7 days. Children 6 years of age and older: The initial dose should be 10 to 15 mg/kg/day, and the effective dose is achieved within no more than 3 days. The effective dose in children 6 years of age and older is 25 to 35 mg/kg/day. Dosages up to 50 mg/kg/day were well tolerated. The total daily dose should be divided into 3 single doses, the maximum interval should not exceed 12 hours.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, pregnancy and lactation.

Precautionary measures:
Patients are not advised to drive or operate any equipment during Haptin therapy. Use with caution in patients with mixed seizure syndrome. Patients receiving gabapentin should be monitored for new or worsening depression, suicidal ideation or behavior, and/or any unusual changes in mood or behavior.

Side effects:
The most common are drowsiness, back pain, dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea and vomiting.

Storage method:
Store at a temperature of 30 degrees in a dry place, out of reach of children.
