Description
Trade name:
Epicogel
Compound:
Each 5 ml of suspension contains:
Aluminum hydroxide 405 mg
Magnesium hydroxide 100 mg
Dimethicone 125 mg
Properties:
An antacid preparation, which is a balanced combination of algedrate (aluminum hydroxide) and magnesium hydroxide. Neutralizes free hydrochloric acid in the stomach, reduces the activity of pepsin, which leads to a decrease in the digestive activity of gastric juice.
Not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
It has an enveloping, adsorbing effect. It protects the gastric mucosa by stimulating the synthesis of prostaglandins (cytoprotective effect). It protects the mucosa from inflammatory and erosive-hemorrhagic lesions as a result of the use of irritating and ulcerogenic agents such as ethanol, NSAIDs (for example, indomethacin, diclofenac, acetylsalicylic acid), corticosteroids.
The therapeutic effect after taking the drug occurs within 3-5 minutes.
Dimethicone is a remedy for flatulence. It reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles in the intestines, causing them to disintegrate. The released gases are partially absorbed by the intestinal walls and are also excreted from the body due to intestinal peristalsis.
Indications:
Dyspepsia, flatulence, heartburn, gastritis and peptic ulcer.
