Each gram of ointment contains:
Dexamethasone 1 mg
Tobramycin 3 mg
Auxiliary components:
Benzalkonium chloride, polysorbate, disodium EDTA, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, sodium chloride, sodium sulfate.
Properties:
A combination drug with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action for local use in ophthalmology.
Tobramycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group. It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.
Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid. It has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and desensitizing effect. It has an anti-exudative effect.
Indications:
– prevention of postoperative infectious complications;
-blepharitis;
-conjunctivitis;
-keratitis (without damage to the epithelium).
Method of administration and dosage:
A small amount of ointment (approximately 1.5 cm) is placed in the conjunctival sac up to 3-4 times a day.
Contraindications:
– viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva (including keratitis caused by Herpes simplex, chickenpox);
-mycobacterial eye infection;
-fungal eye diseases;
– conditions after removal of a foreign body from the cornea;
– hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.
– lactation period.
Precautions:
Dexatobrin may be used in pregnant women if the expected therapeutic effect outweighs the potential risk of side effects.
When using Dexatobrin simultaneously with other eye drops or ointments, the interval between their applications should be at least 5 minutes.
Side effects:
Itching and swelling of the eyelids, reddening of the conjunctiva, increased intraocular pressure, formation of posterior subcapsular cataract, slowing of wound healing, development of secondary infection (including bacterial) as a result of suppression of the patient’s protective response. The appearance of non-healing ulcers on the cornea after long-term treatment with glucocorticoids may indicate the development of a fungal infection.
Storage method:
Store at a temperature of 15 to 25 degrees.
