Compound:
Each 100 ml of solution contains:
Hexamidine 0.1 g
Chlorhexidine bigluconate 0.5 ml (equivalent to 0.1 g chlorhexidine gluconate)
Chlorocresol 0.3 g.
Properties:
Antiseptic solution Citeal contains a combination of hexamidine, chlorhexidine digluconate and chlorocresol. It is a weak foaming antiseptic solution that is used for skin disinfection and in case of fungal (bacterial) infections of the mucous membranes. It is indicated for dermatological, gynecological and surgical cases.
Can be used neat or diluted.
Can be used for rinsing or cleansing, as well as for vaginal douching.
Indications:
- Bacterial infection of the skin and mucous membranes.
- Diseases of the skin and mucous membranes with a high probability of infection.
- Cleaning of skin lesions and mucous membranes, in case of bacterial infections.
Method of administration and dosage:
Used neat or diluted to 1/10.
Dermatology: Use pure Citeal solution for cleansing and rinsing or dilute 1/10 with water.
Gynecology: Use pure Citeal solution followed by rinsing or dilute 1/10 with water as a vaginal douche.
Surgery: Citeal solution is used in a 1/1 dilution with water.
Contraindications:
This solution should not be used:
- for cleaning the eyes or ear canal (risk of poisoning in case of perforation of the eardrum)
- for disinfection of medical and surgical equipment
Precautions:
Avoid prolonged use of Citeal, especially in children, on mucous membranes and on large or deeply injured surfaces without consulting a doctor.The effect of this medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding is poorly known. The possible risk associated with its use is assessed individually: ask your pharmacist or doctor for advice.
Wash your hands thoroughly after using the solution.
Combination with other antiseptics should be avoided as their effect may be neutralized.
Do not use simultaneously with regular soap.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, suspect you may be pregnant, or are planning a pregnancy, consult your doctor before using Citeal.
It is recommended to avoid using Citeal during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Do not store diluted solution.
DO NOT SWALLOW.
In case of accidental ingestion, do not perform gastric lavage (foaming of the product).
Cital has no or little effect on the ability to drive a car and operate machinery.
Side effects:
Itching, tingling, burning, dry skin (especially with prolonged use).
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Allergic reaction:
- Contact dermatitis
- The risk of allergy (the body’s reaction to the drug), common to chlorhexidine, up to anaphylactic shock. Anaphylactic shock can be accompanied by a drop in blood pressure, swelling of the throat, difficulty breathing and loss of consciousness).
- Due to the presence of chlorhexidine, allergic eczema may occur upon contact with the product.
Do not use this medicine on a large area of skin, especially burned skin or on a baby’s skin, without consulting a doctor because of the risk of absorption through the general bloodstream.
Storage method:
Keep out of reach of children at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees.
Do not use after the expiration date stated on the bottle.
Keep away from direct sunlight.
