Levonorgestrel 0.75 mg
Auxiliary components:
colloidal silicon dioxide, potato starch, magnesium stearate, talc, corn starch, lactose monohydrate.
Properties:
Levonorgestrel is a synthetic gestagen with contraceptive action, pronounced gestagen and antiestrogenic properties.
When taken orally at the recommended dosage, levonorgestrel inhibits ovulation and fertilization if intercourse occurs in the preovulatory phase, when the chances of fertilization are greatest. It may also cause changes in the endometrium that prevent implantation of a fertilized egg. It increases the viscosity of cervical secretions, which impedes the movement of sperm. Levonorgestrel is ineffective if implantation has already occurred.
Indications:
Emergency postcoital contraception in women (after unprotected intercourse or unreliability of the contraceptive method used).
Method of administration and dosage:
Orally 0.75 mg within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse. Repeated dose at the same dosage after 12 hours. Or 1.5 mg once within 72 hours after intercourse.
Maximum daily dose: 1.5 mg.
Maximum single dose: 1.5 mg.
Contraindications:
Breast tumors, acute liver disease, intracranial hypertension (including history), history of thrombophlebitis and thromboembolism, undiagnosed bleeding from the genitals and urinary tract, diabetes mellitus complicated by angiopathy, ischemic heart disease.
Individual intolerance.
Precautions:
It is not recommended to use the drug for emergency contraception several times during one menstrual cycle.
In patients with excess body weight, the contraceptive effect of the drug is reduced.
Side effects:
Central and peripheral nervous system: intracranial hypertension, bulbospinal palsy, headache, emotional lability, fatigue.
Cardiovascular system: thrombophilia.
Digestive system: nausea, vomiting, flatulence.
Reproductive system: metrorrhagia, amenorrhea, formation of ovarian cysts, fibrocystic mastopathy.
Sense organs: intolerance to contact lenses.
Dermatological manifestations: skin itching, alopecia.
Allergic reactions.
Storage method:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees. In a dry place.
