Properties:

Mebeverine is a myotropic antispasmodic agent that acts directly on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract without affecting normal intestinal motility. The exact mechanism of action is unknown, but multiple mechanisms, such as decreased ion channel permeability, norepinephrine reuptake blockade, local anesthetic action, and changes in water absorption, may cause the local action of mebeverine on the gastrointestinal tract. Through these mechanisms, mebeverine exerts an antispasmodic effect, normalizing intestinal motility and without causing permanent relaxation of gastrointestinal smooth muscle cells (“hypotension”).

Sulpiride has moderate neuroleptic activity in combination with stimulating and thymoanaleptic (antidepressant) action. The neuroleptic effect is associated with antidopaminergic action. In the central nervous system, sulpiride blocks predominantly dopaminergic receptors of the limbic system, and has little effect on the neostriatal system, it has an antipsychotic effect and causes a small number of side effects. The peripheral action of sulpiride is based on the inhibition of presynaptic receptors. An increase in the amount of dopamine in the central nervous system is associated with an improvement in mood, and a decrease in it is associated with the development of symptoms of depression.
