Betadine

Compound:

Povidone iodine 10%

Properties:

Antiseptic and disinfectant. When released from a complex with polyvinylpyrrolidone upon contact with skin and mucous membranes, iodine forms iodamines with bacterial cell proteins, coagulates them and causes the death of microorganisms. It has a rapid bactericidal effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (except for mycobacterium tuberculosis). It is also active against fungi, viruses and protozoa.

It has a longer lasting effect compared to inorganic iodine solution.

Indications:

Candidiasis; trichomoniasis; nonspecific vaginitis.

Method of administration and dosage:

For the treatment of vaginitis:

Apply once a day for 14 days. Dilute 2 tablespoons of betadine in 1 liter of water.
