Description
Trade name:
Augmentin
Composition:
Each tablet contains:
Amoxicillin 500 mg
Clavulanic acid 125 mg
Excipients:
magnesium stearate, sodium starch glycolate (type A), anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose.
Properties:
Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin (beta-lactam antibiotic) that inhibits one of more or enzymes (known as penicillin-binding proteins) in the process of biosynthesis of bacterial peptide glycan, which is the unifying structural component of cellular flora. Inhibition of peptide glycan synthesis leads to thinning of cellular tissue, which subsequently leads to lysis and detection of cells. Amoxicillin is formed under the action of lactamases produced by resistant bacteria, and therefore the spectrum of activity of amoxicillin itself does not include microorganisms that produce these enzymes.
Clavulanic acid is a lactamase inhibitor, structurally related to penicillins. Clavulanic acid blocks the action of some lactamase enzymes, thereby maximally preventing the inactivation of amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid in the presence does not affect the human body.
Indications:
Augmentin leads to the following observations in adults and children:
• Acute bacterial sinusitis
• Acute otitis media
• Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
• Community-acquired pneumonia
• Cystitis
• Pyelonephritis
• Skin and soft tissue infections, in particular, phlegmon, animal bites, severe dental abscess spreading phlegmon.
• Bone and joint infections, in particular osteomyelitis
Method of administration and dosage:
Take before meals
The dosage regimen is individual depending on the severity of the manifestation and manifestation of the infection, the sensitivity of the pathogen.
Augmentin tablets should not be taken by children under 12 years of age.
The recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years of age:
One Augmentin tablet 625 mg every 8 hours.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, other component drugs, beta-lactam antibiotics (eg, penicillins, cephalosporins) in the anamnesis;
previous episodes of jaundice or liver dysfunction when using amoxicillin with clavulanic acid in the anamnesis. renal dysfunction (creatinine Cl less than 30 ml / min);
Precautions:
Before starting treatment with Augmentin, it is necessary to collect a detailed anamnesis causing previous hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins or other substances causing an allergic reaction in the patient.
Serious and sometimes fatal hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylactic reactions) to penicillins have been described. The risk of such reactions is highest in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins. In case of an allergic reaction, it is necessary to stop treatment with Augmentin and switch to appropriate alternative therapy.
Side effects:
Infectious and parasitic diseases: common – candidiasis of the skin and mucous membranes.
From the gastrointestinal tract:
– adults: very common – diarrhea; common – nausea, vomiting;
– children: common – diarrhea, nausea, vomiting;
Side effects from the liver are observed mainly in men and elderly patients and may be associated with long-term therapy. These adverse events are very rare in children.
Storage method:
In a cool, dry place at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees.
Packaging:
A cardboard box contains 1 blister of 10 tablets, paper instructions.
