Description
Trade name:
Augmentin
Composition:
Each 5 ml of the finished suspension contains 400 mg of amoxicillin and 57 mg of clavulanic acid.
Excipients:
xanthan gum – 12.5 mg, aspartame – 12.5 mg, succinic acid – 0.84 mg, colloidal silicon dioxide – 25 mg, hypromellose – 79.65 mg, strawberry flavor 1 – 15 mg, silicon dioxide – up to 900 mg.
Characteristics:
Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin (beta-lactam antibiotic) that inhibits one or more enzymes (known as penicillin-binding proteins) in the process of biosynthesis of bacterial peptide glycan, which is the unifying structural component of the bacterial cell wall. Inhibition of peptide synthesis leads to thinning of the cell wall, which subsequently leads to lysis and death of the cell. Amoxicillin is destroyed by lactamases produced by resistant bacteria, and therefore the spectrum of action of amoxicillin itself does not include microorganisms that produce these enzymes.
Clavulanic acid is a lactamase inhibitor, structurally related to penicillins. Clavulanic acid blocks the action of some lactamase enzymes, thereby maximally preventing the inactivation of amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid in the presence does not affect the human body. Indications:
Augmentin leads to the following observations in adults and children:
• Acute bacterial sinusitis
• Acute otitis media
• Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
• Community-acquired pneumonia
• Cystitis
• Pyelonephritis
• Skin and soft tissue infections, in particular, phlegmon, animal bites, severe dental abscess spreading phlegmon.
• Bone and joint infections, in particular, osteomyelitis
Method of administration:
For easy absorption and side effects from the digestive system, Augmentin is recommended to be taken at the beginning of a meal.
The dosage regimen is individual depending on the severity of the manifestation and manifestation of the infection, the sensitivity of the pathogen.
Augmentin tablets should not be taken by children under 12 years of age.
The recommended dose for children over 2-6 years of age with a body weight of (13-21 kg) is:
2.5 ml of suspension 2 times a day
Or the highest dose of 5.0 ml 2 times a day
For children 7-12 years of age with a body weight of (22-40 kg) is:
5.0 ml of suspension 2 times a day or the highest dose of 10.0 ml of suspension 2 times a day
The minimum course of antibacterial therapy is 5 days.
Treatment does not continue for more than 14 days without reviewing the clinical situation.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, other component drugs, beta-lactam antibiotics (eg, penicillins, cephalosporins) in the anamnesis;
previous episodes of jaundice or liver dysfunction when using amoxicillin with clavulanic acid in the anamnesis;
children under 2 months (for powder for preparation of oral suspension 400 mg/57 mg in 5 ml);
renal impairment (CC less than 30 ml/min) – for preparation of powder for preparation of oral suspension 400 mg/57 mg in 5 ml;
phenylketonuria.
With caution: liver dysfunction
Precautions:
Before starting treatment with Augmentin, it is necessary to collect a detailed anamnesis causing previous hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins or other substances that cause an allergic reaction in the patient.
Serious and sometimes fatal hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylactic reactions) to penicillins have been described. The risk of such reactions is highest in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins. If an allergic reaction occurs, it is necessary to stop treatment with Augmentin and switch to appropriate alternative therapy.
Side effects:
Infectious and parasitic diseases: often – candidiasis of the skin and mucous membranes.
From the gastrointestinal tract:
– adults: very often – diarrhea; often – nausea, vomiting;
– children: often – diarrhea, nausea, vomiting;
Side effects from the liver are observed mainly in men and elderly patients and may be associated with long-term therapy. These adverse events are very rare in children.
Storage method:
In a cool, dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees
The prepared suspension should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2° to 8°C for 7 days.
Instructions for preparing the suspension:
add about 64 ml of water to the bottle with powder, then close the bottle with a lid and shake until the powder is completely dissolved, let the bottle stand for 5 minutes to ensure complete dissolution.
Packaging:
The cardboard box contains a 70 ml glass bottle and paper instructions.
