Composition:
Each tablet contains:

Secnidazole 1 g
Properties:
Secnidazole has a bactericidal effect on most anaerobic bacteria and many protozoa.
Indications:
1- intestinal amebiasis

2- hepatic amebiasis

3- urogenital trichomoniasis

Method of administration and dosage:
It is advisable to take the dose during meals.

1 – for acute intestinal amebiasis (1 day of treatment):

– Adults: 2 tablets (2 g) as a single dose.

– Children: 30 mg/kg as a single or divided dose.

2- for liver amebiasis (treatment for 5 days):

-Adults 1.5 g as a single dose / day

-Children 30 mg / kg per day in single or divided doses

3- for urogenital trichomoniasis:

-2 tablets (2 g) as a single dose
Contraindications:
-Hypersensitivity to imidazole derivatives.

-Pregnancy.

-Breastfeeding should be discontinued during treatment.
Precautions:
-Avoid drinking alcohol during treatment.

Secnidazole should not be taken with Warfarin or any other anticoagulant, as it increases the risk of bleeding, or under strict supervision and control of the attending physician.

Secnidazole should not be taken simultaneously with cimetidine, as it increases the level of Secnidazole in the blood.

– Do not take simultaneously with disulfiram
Side effects:
– Some gastrointestinal disorders such as nausea, vomiting and metallic taste in the mouth.

– Moderate leukopenia, which subsequently disappears.

– Urticaria.

– Rarely – dizziness, impaired coordination of movements, ataxia, paresthesia.

Storage method:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees, in a place protected from light.

Keep out of reach of children.

Packaging:
A cardboard box contains two blisters of 1 tablet each, paper instructions.
