ketotifen fumarate 2 mg
Properties:
Mast cell membrane stabilizer, has moderate H1-histamine blocking activity, inhibits the release of histamine, leukotrienes from basophils and neutrophils, reduces the accumulation of eosinophils in the respiratory tract and the reaction to histamine, suppresses early and late asthmatic reactions to an allergen. Prevents the development of bronchospasm, does not have a bronchodilating effect.
Indications:
atopic bronchial asthma;
pollinosis (hay fever);
allergic rhinitis;
allergic conjunctivitis;
atopic dermatitis;
hives.
Method of administration and dosage:
Allerban SR prolonged-release tablets, due to their mechanism of action, only need to be taken once a day.
Adults: 1 tablet in the evening.
For patients who experience drowsiness or slow reactions, it is recommended to reduce the dose to 1/2 tablet at the beginning of treatment for 1 week. The maximum daily dose is 4 mg, taken in 2 doses.
Contraindications:
pregnancy;
lactation period;
children under 3 years of age;
hypersensitivity.
Precautions:
Use with caution in cases of epilepsy and liver failure.
Abrupt discontinuation of previous treatment with beta-adrenergic agonists, glucocorticosteroids, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in patients with bronchial asthma and bronchospastic syndrome after adding ketotifen to therapy is undesirable; discontinuation is carried out for at least 2 weeks.
Side effects:
Drowsiness, dizziness, slow reaction, dry mouth, increased appetite.
