Description
Trade name:
Adapalene
Compound:
Each 1 g of gel contains:
Adapalene 1 mg
Auxiliary components:
Propylene glycol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, phenoxyethanol, carbomer 940 P, disodium edetate, poloxamer 182, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
Properties:
Adapalene is a retinoid metabolite, has comedolytic and anti-inflammatory activity, normalizes keratinization and epidermal differentiation processes. The mechanism of action of adapalene is based on interaction with specific receptors of epidermal skin cells. As a result of the action of adapalene, in particular, there is a decrease in the “adhesion” of epithelial cells at the mouth of the sebaceous-hair follicle and a decrease in the prerequisites for the formation of microcomedones. Adapalene has an anti-inflammatory effect in vivo and in vitro, affecting inflammation factors by inhibiting leukocyte migration in the inflammation focus and arachidonic acid metabolism.
Indications:
Acne.
Method of administration and dosage:
Externally. Apply the gel evenly to the affected area with light massage movements once a day before bedtime on clean, dry skin of the face, avoiding contact with the eyes and lips.
The therapeutic effect develops after 4–8 weeks of treatment, with persistent improvement after 3 months of treatment.
In some cases, due to short-term skin irritation, the number of applications may be reduced or treatment may be suspended until signs of irritation disappear.
A repeated course of treatment is possible after consultation with a doctor.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Precautions:
Avoid contact of the gel with eyes, lips and mucous membranes.
If the drug accidentally comes into contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes, mouth or nose, rinse them thoroughly with warm water.
Avoid direct sunlight as mild skin irritation may occur. Treatment can be continued if sun exposure is kept to a minimum (use of sunglasses and hats).
It is not recommended to use cosmetics with a drying or irritating effect on the skin (for example, perfumes or alcohol-containing products).
Adapalene applied to the skin in the evening can be combined with acne medications applied in the morning.
Side effects:
Skin irritation (treatment should be discontinued until skin irritation disappears or the frequency of application should be reduced).
Storage method:
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.
