Description
Trade name:
Nanazoxide
Compound:
Each 5 ml of ready suspension contains:
100 mg Nitazoxanide
Auxiliary components:
Sucrose, starch, citric acid anhydrous, avicel, xanthan gum, sodium benzoate, aerosil, strawberry flavor.
Properties:
A synthetic agent, a derivative of sialicamide, used as a broad-spectrum antiparasitic agent, the effectiveness of which has been confirmed against protozoa and helminths. Recommended for use in patients under 1 year of age infected with Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lamblia.
The antihelminthic action is manifested through the absorption of an enzyme necessary for the vital activity of parasites, in particular, the drug prevents the polymerization of the tubulin protein in helminths. In relation to protozoa, its action is manifested in a different way: biochemical studies and studies using electron radiation have demonstrated that the 5-nitro group of metronidazole and, to a lesser extent, hydrogenase reduce the amount of ferredoxin. In these organisms, Nanazoxide acts as a toxic radical in carbohydrate metabolism. Its effectiveness against the influenza A virus has also been noted, in which case it prevents the introduction of a foreign protein into the host plasma membrane.
Indications:
Tablets and suspension are used to treat parasitic infections caused by protozoa (giardiasis, amoebic, infusorial dysentery, dientamobiasis, urogenital trichomoniasis), coccidia (cryptosporidiasis, isosporiasis, cyclosporiasis) and viruses. It is effective against helminthiases. Ascaris, trematode Fasciola vulgaris, Fasciola gigantica, and bovine tapeworm are especially sensitive to it.
The syrup is taken by children 1 year and older.
The tablets are used only for patients who have reached the age of 12.
Method of administration and dosage:
Children 1-3 years old take 5 ml of syrup every 12 hours with food.
