Description

Trade name:

Diasmect

Compound:

Each 5 ml of suspension contains:

Dioctahedral smectite (Diosmectite) 1 g.

Auxiliary components:

Sorbitol 70%, sodium saccharin, microcrystalline cellulose, methylparaben, propylparaben, sorbitic acid, liquid caramel flavor, sodium citrate dehydrate, polysorbate 80, anhydrous citric acid, ethanol 95%, purified water.

Properties:

Antidiarrheal agent, adsorbent. Diasmect is a silicate salt of aluminum and magnesium. Due to its multilayer structure and high plastic viscosity, it has the ability to cover and protect the mucous membrane of the digestive system. Interacting with mucus glycoproteins, it increases the resistance of the adhesive mucous gel to aggressors. Does not color the stool, and in normal doses does not change the physiological time of food passage through the intestines.

Indications:

Symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in children and infants, in addition to oral rehydration in adults. Symptomatic treatment of chronic diarrhea in adults. Symptomatic treatment of pain associated with functional bowel disorders in adults.

Method of administration and dosage:

Treatment of acute diarrhea in children over 2 years of age: 4 tablespoons (15 ml) per day for the first 3 days, then 2 tablespoons (15 ml) per day.

Adults: on average 3 tablespoons (15 ml) per day. At the beginning of treatment, the daily dose can be doubled.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to diosmectite or other excipients of the drug, children under 2 years of age.

Precautions:

Use with caution in patients with severe chronic constipation.

All patients should be advised to drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration due to diarrhea (average daily water intake is 2 litres). Diet during diarrhea: avoid in particular raw vegetables, fruits, green vegetables, spicy foods, and frozen foods or drinks. This product contains glucose. Its use is not recommended in patients with glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase/isomaltase deficiency. In children, treatment of acute diarrhea should be combined with early administration of oral rehydration solution to prevent dehydration.

Pregnancy and lactation: there is insufficient research on the effects of diosmectite during pregnancy and breastfeeding; use is only possible as prescribed by a doctor.

Side effects:

Gastrointestinal disorders: common: constipation usually resolves with dose reduction, but in rare cases may lead to discontinuation of treatment.

Uncommon: rash.

Rare: urticaria.

Hypersensitivity reactions (frequency unknown), including rash, pruritus and angioedema.

Cases of worsening constipation have also been reported.

Storage method:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees, out of reach of children.

Package:

The cardboard box contains a 60 ml glass bottle and paper instructions.
