Description
Trade name:
Danset 8mg/4ml
Compound:
Each ampoule contains:
Ondansetron hydrochloride dihydrate 10 mg, which corresponds to ondansetron 8 mg.
Auxiliary components:
Citric acid, sodium citrate, sodium chloride, water for injection.
Properties:
Antiemetic. Effectively prevents and eliminates nausea and vomiting that occur during antitumor chemotherapy or radiation therapy, as well as in the postoperative period. The mechanism of action is due to the ability of ondansetron to selectively block serotonin 5-HT3 receptors.
Indications:
Prevention of nausea and vomiting during antitumor chemotherapy or radiation therapy; prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting in the postoperative period.
Method of administration and dosage:
Adults: The recommended dose is 8 mg, intravenously or intramuscularly, immediately before the start of chemotherapy or radiotherapy. For highly emetogenic chemotherapy, the maximum initial dose of ondansetron should be 16 mg as a 15-minute infusion. A single intravenous dose should not exceed 16 mg.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ondansetron; concomitant use of ondansetron with apomorphine; pregnancy, lactation; childhood – depending on the indications and dosage form; congenital prolongation of the QT interval.
Precautions:
There have been reports of hypersensitivity reactions to ondansetron in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to other selective 5HT3 receptor antagonists.
Ondansetron is known to increase colonic transit time. When ondansetron is used in patients with symptoms of subacute intestinal obstruction, regular monitoring of such patients is necessary.
Hypokalemia and hypomagnesemia should be corrected before using ondansetron.
It has been established that the risk of developing serotonin syndrome increases with the combined use of ondansetron and other serotonergic drugs. If the use of such a combination is clinically justified, it is necessary to ensure regular monitoring of the patient’s condition
Side effects:
Allergic reactions, headache, transient visual disturbances, feeling of heat and hot flashes, constipation, with intravenous administration – burning at the injection site.
Storage method:
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.
Package:
The cardboard box contains paper instructions and 3 ampoules of 3 ml.
