Description

Trade name:

Orchazid

Compound:

Each 1 ml of solution contains:

Ketotifen 0.25 mg

Auxiliary components:

Benzalkonium chloride 0.1 mg

Properties:

Ketotifen belongs to the group of cycloheptathiophenones and has a pronounced antihistamine effect. It does not belong to bronchodilating antiasthmatic drugs. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of the release of histamine and other mediators from mast cells, blocking histamine H1 receptors and inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase, resulting in an increase in the level of cAMP (cyclic adenosine monophosphate) in mast cells.

Indications:

Prevention and treatment of acute, subacute and chronic allergic conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis, seasonal (spring) conjunctivitis, ocular manifestations of hay fever.

Method of administration and dosage:

Adults and children over 12 years of age are prescribed 1 drop in the conjunctival sac of each eye 2 times a day.

Preventive administration for subacute and chronic processes should begin 3 weeks before contact with the allergen. Treatment continues throughout the entire period of exposure to the allergen. The duration of use of eye drops depends on the type and severity of the disease.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to ketotifen and other components of the drug, pregnancy and breastfeeding; children under 3 years of age.

Precautions:

In acute inflammation and during exacerbation of a chronic process, the drug may be used in combination with corticosteroids. The patient should be warned about the need for regular use of the drug. Treatment begins before contact with the allergen and continues throughout the period of action of the allergen. The drug should not be used simultaneously with antidiabetic agents.

Do not apply directly to contact lenses due to the presence of benzalkonium chloride. Contact lenses should be removed from the eyes immediately before instillation of drops and inserted no earlier than 15 minutes after application of the drug.

Side effects:

A burning and tingling sensation in the eyes, blurred vision immediately after instillation. Irritation of the mucous membrane of the eye, skin rash around the eyes.

Storage method:

Store at temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.

Package:

The cardboard box contains a 10 ml plastic dropper bottle and paper instructions.
