Compound:

1 ml of solution for intramuscular injection contains:

Hydroxocobalamin 1000 mcg.

Auxiliary components:

Disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, benzyl alcohol, glacial acetic acid, water for injection.

Properties:

Vitamin B12 belongs to the group of water-soluble vitamins. It has high biological activity. It is necessary for normal hematopoiesis (promotes maturation of erythrocytes). It participates in transmethylation processes, hydrogen transfer, formation of methionine, nucleic acids, choline, creatine. It promotes accumulation of compounds containing sulfhydryl groups in erythrocytes. It has a beneficial effect on liver and nervous system function. It participates in the synthesis of the myelin sheath, stimulates hematopoiesis, reduces pain associated with damage to the peripheral nervous system, stimulates nucleic acid metabolism through activation of folic acid. It activates the blood coagulation system, in high doses it causes an increase in the activity of thromboplastin and prothrombin.

Indications:

Treatment and prevention of vitamin B 12 deficiency in the following conditions:

Pernicious (megaloblastic) anemia

Patients after gastrectomy and ileal resection

Atrophic gastritis

Congenital malabsorption of vitamin B12.

Transcobalamin II deficiency.

Strict vegetarian diet, infants breastfed by mothers on a strict vegetarian diet.

Tobacco amblyopia.

Parasitic or bacterial intestinal infections.

Increased need for vitamin B 12 in the following conditions:

Pregnancy and lactation, hemolytic anemia, bleeding, thyrotoxicosis, kidney and liver diseases, correction of neurological disorders in inflammation of the trigeminal nerve, herpes zoster, peripheral neuropathies, multiple sclerosis, prevention and treatment of cyanide poisoning.

Method of administration and dosage:

Anemia with severe deficiency of Vit B 12: 1 ml once a day intramuscularly for 1-2 weeks, then 1 ml once every 3 months

Neurological disorders: 1 ml once daily until condition improves.

Prevention and treatment of mild anemia: 1 ml once every 2-3 months.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Do not use in pregnant or nursing mothers, or in children under 13 years of age due to the presence of benzyl alcohol.

Precautions:

During treatment with cyanocobalamin, peripheral blood counts and coagulation parameters should be regularly monitored.

In patients with severe megaloblastic anemia, symptoms of hypokalemia requiring treatment may occur at the beginning of treatment.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions, mental agitation, cardialgia, tachycardia, diarrhea, headache, dizziness; when used in high doses – hypercoagulation, purine metabolism disorder.

Storage method:

Store at temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.
