Properties:
Vitasid C effervescent tablets are available in an easily digestible orange-flavoured form, which is well tolerated by adults and children.
Vitamin C is an important coenzyme for collagen formation, tissue repair, and lipid and protein synthesis. It acts as a regenerating agent and antioxidant. It is essential for many physiological metabolic functions in the body, such as the absorption of iron, carbohydrates, and folic acid, increases resistance to infections, improves cellular respiration, and helps maintain the integrity of blood vessels.
Indications:
- Vitamin C is recommended for the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and scurvy.
- Vitamin C is recommended for symptoms of vitamin C deficiency such as: gingivitis, bleeding gums and loose teeth.
- The need for vitamin C also increases significantly in diseases such as tuberculosis, hyperthyroidism, gastric ulcer, neoplastic diseases, febrile conditions, chronic diseases and infections (whooping cough, cough, pneumonia, sinusitis and rheumatism), pregnancy and lactation.
- Hemovascular disorders, burns and delayed healing of fractures and wounds.
- Symptomatic relief of cold and flu symptoms (this prevents colds and shortens their duration).
- Treatment of Chediak-Higaski syndrome.
Method of administration and dosage:
1 effervescent tablet should be dissolved in half a glass of water and taken after meals daily or as directed by a doctor.
Contraindications:
History of hypersensitivity to vitamin C.
Children under 12 years of age.
Precautions:
Vitamin C should be used with caution in the following cases:
- Patients on sodium-restricted diets.
- Patients with diabetes mellitus.
- Patients taking anticoagulants.
- Recurrent kidney stones.
- Vitamin C should be used in therapeutic doses during pregnancy and childbirth, and during lactation.
Side effects:
Large doses may cause diarrhea.
Acidification of urine with vitamin C may cause precipitation of urate salts or oxalate stones and will also alter the excretion of some concomitantly administered drugs.
Vitamin C may cause false results on urine glucose tests in diabetics.
Large doses of vitamin C may interfere with the anticoagulant effects of warfarin drugs.
Storage method:
Keep the tube tightly closed (the cap contains a moisture-absorbing substance).
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30 degrees.
