Description

Trade name:

Predsol

Composition:
Each 5 ml of syrup contains:

Prednisolone 5 mg

Properties:
Prednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid drug, a dehydrated analogue of hydrocortisone. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, immunosuppressant, anti-shock effects, increases the sensitivity of alpha-adrenergic receptors to endogenous catecholamines.

Interacts with specific cytoplasmic receptors (glucocorticoid receptors (GCS) are present in all tissues, especially in the liver) to form a complex that induces the formation of proteins (including enzymes that regulate vital processes in cells).

The anti-inflammatory effect is associated with the inhibition of the release of inflammatory mediators by eosinophils and mast cells; inducing the formation of lipocortins and reducing the number of mast cells that produce hyaluronic acid; reducing capillary permeability; stabilizing cell membranes (especially lysosomal) and organelle membranes. Affects all stages of the inflammatory process: inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins (Pg) at the level of arachidonic acid (lipocortin inhibits phospholipase A2, suppresses the release of arachidonic acid and inhibits the biosynthesis of endoperoxides, leukotrienes that contribute to inflammation, allergies, etc.), the synthesis of “inflammatory cytokines” (including interleukin 1, TNF); increases the resistance of the cell membrane to the action of various damaging factors. Indications:
-shock conditions (burn, trauma, surgery, toxic, cardiogenic) – if vasoconstrictors, plasma-substituting drugs and other symptomatic therapy are ineffective;

-allergic reactions (acute severe forms), hemotransfusion shock, anaphylactic shock, anaphylactoid reactions;

-cerebral edema (including against the background of a brain tumor or associated with surgery, radiation therapy or head injury);

-bronchial asthma (severe form), asthmatic status;

-systemic diseases of connective tissue (systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis);

-acute adrenal insufficiency;

-thyrotoxic crisis;

-acute hepatitis, hepatic coma;

-reduction of inflammatory phenomena and prevention of cicatricial constrictions (in case of poisoning with caustic liquids).

Method of administration and dosage:
The dosage and duration of treatment are selected by the doctor on an individual basis depending on the indications and severity of the disease. The selection of the dosage and duration of treatment is determined depending on the individual response to therapy.

The entire daily dose of the drug is recommended to be taken once or double the daily dose – every other day, taking into account the circadian rhythm of endogenous secretion of GCS in the interval from 6 to 8 am. The daily dose of Prednisolone should be taken after meals (breakfast). A high daily dose can be divided into 2-4 doses, with a larger dose taken in the morning.

Adults:

Take 5-60 mg per day once or divided into 3-4 doses.

Children:

Take 0. 14-2 mg / kg / day, taken once or divided into 3-4 doses.

Contraindications:
-hypersensitivity to prednisolone or any of the excipients;

-systemic mycosis;

-simultaneous use of live and attenuated vaccines with immunosuppressive doses of the drug;

-eye infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (due to the risk of corneal perforation);

-breastfeeding period; children under 3 years of age. Use of the drug in patients with acute or subacute myocardial infarction is not recommended due to the risk of spreading the necrotic focus, slowing down the formation of scar tissue, and, as a consequence, rupture of the heart muscle.

-peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum;

-esophagitis, gastritis;

-acute or latent peptic ulcer;

Precautions:
The lowest dose of prednisolone should be used that provides a sufficient therapeutic effect; if necessary, the dose should be reduced gradually.

Patients receiving drugs that suppress the immune system are more susceptible to infections. For example, chickenpox and measles can have a more severe course, even death, in unimmunized children or in adults receiving prednisolone.

Side effects:
From the immune system: skin rash, itching, anaphylactic shock.

From the endocrine system: decreased glucose tolerance, “steroid” diabetes mellitus or manifestation of latent diabetes mellitus, suppression of adrenal function.

From the metabolism and nutrition: increased excretion of calcium ions, hypocalcemia, weight gain.

Storage method:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 degrees.

Packaging:
A cardboard box contains a 50 ml bottle, paper instructions.
